The Military

The U.S. military is essential to keeping this country free and safe from invasion. However, it's power has grown well beyond what is necessary to protect our country. And it has over-stepped the bounds of ethical international behavior. I would reduce the mitary's power while keeping it strong enough to defend us.

  1. Reduce the Military
It's much larger than we need right now. Reduce its budget, its assets, and its personel size.
  2. Eliminate the Draft
It's improper and unnecessary. Americans can not be a free people if the government can force them into military service. And it's quite unnecessary; we have plenty of people to staff out military. And in case of a (justifiable) war, more people would enlist to protect America.
  3. Follow UN Charter With Respect to Attacks
“The United Nations Charter permits member nations to defend themselves only if attacked. The U.S. government policy of attacking first, on the grounds that the target nation is (in Washington's sole opinion) a threat, is plainly criminal, and we condemn it.” [SP-USA 2004]
  4. Require War Declaration
The Presidency must stop going into foreign operations without a war declaration. Asside from actual self-defense, or defense against an actual invasion, the Military should not use lethal force without a declaration of war from Congress.
